Leadership Summit 2007

This year's Summit was no ordinary, run-of-the-mill gathering of conservative college students ... it was a crown jewel in a 14 year long tradition of excellent speakers, proactive students and amazing experiences. Our 14th Annual Eagle Forum Collegians Leadership Summit drew students from over 100 college and university campuses, student groups and Congressional offices!

Day 1 - Thursday Session

The morning started with first-term Rep. Tim Walberg (MI) waking up our sleepy crowd with an important speech entitled Stand Up For Your Principles. He highlighted the importance of maintaining integrity and dignity to not only politics, but in all aspects of the students' lives.

Our students next heard a PowerPoint-accompanied speech from Sen. James Inhofe (OK) on the Inconvenient Truths About Global Warming. Sen. Inhofe, who is the Ranking Minority Member on the Senate's Committee on Environment and Public Works, is considered by many as the Senate's foremost expert on environmental issues.

Eagle Forum's President and Founder Phyllis Schlafly was the next on the list of speakers. Having become a nationally recognized expert on the courts, Mrs. Schlafly chose to speak on Saving Self-Government from the Judges.

Eagle Forum Executive Director Jessica Echard took a few minutes out of her extremely busy schedule to teach the Collegians How to Fascinate and Dominate in DC. Jessica, who started in Eagle Forum's DC office as an intern, has been instrumental in many of the Republicans victories in the House and Senate since the Democratic takeover of Congress.

After the speeches given by our lovely Eagle Forum ladies, Rep. Walter Jones (NC), took the podium and addressed the students on How To Make Trade Fair to Americans. With a growing trade deficit that will only continue to expand, Rep. Jones discussed ways to eliminate the various ways our country suffers from other countries' taxes and tariffs.

A great friend to Eagle Forum and a staple at our Leadership Summits, Rep. Steve King (IA) talked about how the English Language Binds Us As a Nation.

Taking a break from his busy Presidential campaign schedule, Rep. Tom Tancredo (CO), stopped by to share his views on Multiculturalism vs. Patriotism. Tancredo, a very vocal opponent of the plague of illegal immigration, used his expertise to demonstrate the flaws of multiculturalism and its influence in classrooms and politics.

Another great friend of Eagle Forum, Rep. Trent Franks (AZ) shared some of his personal history and triumphs in Defending the Right to Life (Especially from Judges). Using his own life story, Rep. Franks showed how simple, yet important, the right to life is.
